First Example
This first one will be the "Hello World" of the embedded systems: the blink LED. But using the FreeRTOS.
FreeRTOSConfig.h
Here we need to set the CPU and LF crystal clock, total HEAP, the tick vector and enable de task delay function.
The f5529 has 8MB of RAM, 1.2MHz as default clock and 32768Hz as the LF one. The timer A0 will be the responsible to generate the ticks.
Your FreeRTOSConfig.h should be like this(more info here).
#ifndef FREERTOS_CONFIG_H
#define FREERTOS_CONFIG_H
/*-----------------------------------------------------------

Main.c
At the main you should do:
The necessaries includes;
/* FreeRTOS includes */ #include "FreeRTOS.h" #include "task.h" /* Standart includes */ #include <stdint.h> /* Texas includes */ #include <msp430.h>
- Declare the vApplicationSetupTimerInterrupt() function
vApplicationSetupTimerInterrupt(){
const uint16_t ACLK_Freq = 32768;
// Stop the timer.
TA0CTL = 0;
// Set the compare value
TA0CCR0 = ACLK_Freq / configTICK_RATE_HZ;
// Timer interrupt enabled
TA0CCTL0 = CCIE;
// Start with up mode and ACLK as clock source
TA0CTL |= TACLR + MC_1 + TASSEL_1;
}
- Declare the blink led task with the (void * pvParameters)
void vBlinkLED(void * pvParameters){
// this section will execute once
const TickType_t xDelay = 500 / portTICK_PERIOD_MS;
while(1){
P1OUT^=BIT0;
vTaskDelay( xDelay );
}
}
- TIP Declare the hardware start function ( for a clean main )
void vHardwareSetup(){
// Stop watchdog timer (classic at msp430)
WDTCTL = WDTPW + WDTHOLD;
// P1.0 as output
P1DIR |= BIT0;
// The tick timer setup
vApplicationSetupTimerInterrupt();
// Enable the interrupts
taskENABLE_INTERRUPTS();
}
And finally at the main function, call the hardware setup, create the tasks and start the scheduler:
int main(void){ // each hardware needs its own setup vHardwareSetup(); //Each task should have a handler static xTaskHandle BlinkLED_Handler; //task creation xTaskCreate( vBlinkLED, "Blink P1.0", configMINIMAL_STACK_SIZE, NULL, 1, &BlinkLED_Handler); //scheduler initialization vTaskStartScheduler(); // should never reach here return 0; }
After all of this click the hammer icon to build the project and then the bug icon to debug it. Make sure the launchpad is connected with the computer.
